MASSERIA "MONACI" PRESICCE (LE) 400MQ + 40 HECTARES OF LAND - The secret of the architectural beauty of the land of Otranto are the Lecce stone and its workforce accompanied by projects designed by renowned architects. One of these was undoubtedly the architect Carlo Luigi Arditi who concentrated all his professional activity in the extreme peninsula of the Terra d’Otranto: the centers where he left his mark most are Leuca, Casarano, Acquarica del Capo and Presicce. Among the various projects conceived in the territory of Presicce, the one concerning the Masseria "Monaci" stands out, an elegant rural structure built for the Seracca brothers in 1884 on the top of a small hill from which you can admire the sea. Like all the others, this Masseria was equipped with sheds and rooms for the service staff and the "farmer" on the ground floor, while the first floor was reserved for the owner and his family but unfortunately in this case it remained unfinished. The structure vaguely resembles the type of a castle with two cylindrical turrets at the corners surmounted by a small dome and a pinnacle as a guardhouse, but otherwise the image of the building is very simple and linear. It is essential to underline the purely decorative aspect of the farm which refers to an "oriental" style since the facade of the building was characterized by the alternation of horizontal lines of yellow and dark red stones (even if by now this particularity can only be glimpse). The different particles that make up the property, intended by the P.R.G. as a special agricultural area E / 5 they have a cadastral area total of about 40 hectares (400,000 square meters), the main building of the farm has a coverage of 400 square meters on the ground floor, while the nearby deposit - to be recovered - is 160 square meters, other portions of buildings built and envisaged in the Zoo-Park project dating back to the 1980s, are to be demolished.
